At Dr. Fieldhouse & Dr. Peterson’s in La Grange Park, IL, our team members are highly experienced in providing smile makeovers. Smile makeovers aren’t a luxury. Our smiles have a huge impact on how we see ourselves and approach life. When a patient asks for a smile makeover, we take his or her request very seriously.
It’s important to know that there are different procedures involved in smile makeovers. This is something we try to explain to our patients at Dr. Fieldhouse & Dr. Peterson’s. Someone you know might have gotten veneers, but whitening and composite bonding might be the procedures you need. Don’t compare your makeover process to someone else’s.
Teeth bonding is the use of composite resin to repair teeth. A broken or chipped tooth can be repaired using composite resin, which resembles the appearance of teeth to fill missing parts. The color of composite resin is chosen so that it’s the same shade of white as the rest of your teeth.
Veneers are used when a tooth is crooked or can’t be whitened to cover it up and make it look better. They’re thin shells that we stick to the front of teeth. We mainly apply veneers to the front teeth only because those are the apparent ones in a smile. It would be too expensive and not very efficient to apply veneers to all of a person’s teeth.
A missing tooth might not seem problematic if it’s a hind one like a molar. Unfortunately, even a tooth at the back of the mouth will affect chewing. Other teeth in the mouth might also start to shift and become further apart since they have more space to do so.
Replacing a missing tooth is, therefore, important both cosmetically and functionally. Implants are now arguably the best replacements for missing teeth. An implant that’s taken care of properly can last a lifetime and might never need maintenance or replacement.
The decision to get a smile makeover might be harder for some people than others. At the end of the day, we do our best to make sure all our patients are satisfied with the final results.
